Understanding UFC Odds
At BoyleSports, you’ll see our UFC odds written as fractional odds. A simple example is odds of 4/1. A fighter with odds of 4/1 has a theoretical 20% (one in five) chance of winning the fight. Understanding the odds also helps you calculate your potential winnings. If you wagered £10 on a fighter with odds of 4/1, a successful bet would pay out £40. You also get your original stake back for a total of £50.
Let’s look at an example from a previous fight. In the most recent Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier fight in 2021, Poirier was an 8/15 favourite and McGregor was a 6/4 underdog. If you bet on Poirier with a £15 bet this would return £8 profit. Whereas if you backed McGregor with a £4 bet, it would return £6 profit.

MMA odds reflect a fighter’s implied probability of winning the fight. They can fluctuate in line with various factors leading up to the fight including recent form, the head-to-head between the fighters, the fighting style of each of the competitors, and any news to come out of the training camps. Any last-minute opponent changes can have a dramatic effect on the odds too.
