Last year's winner Rahmi returns off a 10lb lower mark, but he wouldn't want to be as slowly away as at the Curragh last time. His stablemate Sindagan could be interesting on his handicap debut, while Amo's pair Benevento and Gleneagle Bay make the shortlist along with Krasimir and Excellent Believe. However, the suggestion is the evergreen 8yo VAFORTINO who was badly deprived of running room when a closing third off the same mark at Galway.[Alistair Jones] Show less
Spotlight: Won his 2yo maiden over C&D when based in Ireland; last win was a Meydan Listed race in 2023, but he's kept good company during his losing stretch; remains capable of smart form and might have gone close in a valuable 7f handicap at Galway had he not been caught in a pocket; considered.
Spotlight: Record of 1-10 for Jessica Harrington, the win coming in a 7f maiden; bought for 33,000gns and it's been a very solid start in Britain, winning over slightly further at Chester and then second there three weeks ago from a bad draw; in form and considered.
Spotlight: Was sent off 7-4 for this 12 months ago when finishing a close fourth to Rahmi and is now 4lb lower; Cork winner in June (7f, good; ridden by Colin Keane) and neither Galway race (sixth both times) panned out ideally; he's not without hope.
Spotlight: Smart three-time winner (7f-1m) for Jack Channon who was bought in July for 100,000gns on the back of two below-par runs in strong handicaps; the season had started well in Listed races (including a third here) and Oisin Murphy is a notable jockey booking; worthy of respect.
Spotlight: Never out of the three in nine starts, latterly when not quite seeing out the 1m in an ultra-competitive 1m handicap at York's Ebor meeting (first-time cheekpieces); should give his running and Reese Holohan takes off a handy 7lb.
Spotlight: Out in box 21 but was drawn in 16 when winning this 12 months ago off 10lb higher; comes with risks, given that he was again slowly away last time at the Curragh, but has a similar chance to Benevento on their previous 1-2 at Gowran; has to be of interest.
Spotlight: Former Listed winner; back in good form having beaten Rahmi on similar terms at Gowran and his subsequent Cork conqueror was a well-backed favourite who ran well in the Irish 2,000 Guineas; entitled to be competitive off this sort of mark.
Spotlight: Second to a classy horse before winning a Galway maiden (7f yielding); then sixth of 11 in a Listed race at Cork where he raced freely off steady fractions; could still be on the upgrade and a strongly-run handicap would suit him.
Spotlight: Dual good-ground winner (7f/6f) and didn't look entirely at home on a faster surface when eighth of 20 on handicap debut at the Curragh; remains unexposed and has possibilities.
Spotlight: Has been on pacemaking duties in two of his last three races (the latest last weekend in France) and in between he offered little in a handicap at Galway.
Spotlight: Has some flashes of classy form at two and three, though not in his last two races (both Group 3s) when tried in a visor and blinkers; those efforts temper enthusiasm in this first handicap on 13th career start; draw no help, either.
Spotlight: Both wins at Cork, the latest a deep-ground handicap over 7f in May when 15lb lower; new mark was triggered by his third in a Listed race back there last time when likely flattered in a steadily run affair (raced prominently).
Spotlight: Won a 7f premier handicap last season and nearly added the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh off this mark; running well this campaign prior to a lesser show at Listed level (behind L L Koulsty and Sindagan); the time before, he was second to the winner of that race; commands respect.
Spotlight: Won a premier handicap at the Curragh in June 2024; has run some good races during his losing sequence, though the positive effect blinkers initially had might be wearing thin.
Spotlight: Multiple winner who returned to form with a second at Ripon (1m, soft; fine on faster) but dropping back in trip doesn't look ideal when he's 0-5 over 7f (3-18 at 1m+) for this yard.
Spotlight: 2-2 on AW but well beaten at the York Ebor festival last time and her turf form is unconvincing.
Spotlight: Struggled since winning off 2lb higher at Navan in May and that was over 5f; unraced beyond 6f, he's hard to warm to.
