He wasn't stopping when sixth in the Irish Cesarewitch but SKY CAPTAIN looks very versatile trip-wise and this Group 3 entrant probably has a good deal more to offer for Joseph O'Brien. Latin America retains plenty of upside after his good run in a Listed race last time, while plenty of others enter the equation, notably Handani, Teoest, Sir Jeremy and the handful of runners who contested the Petingo here that was won by Immutable.[Alistair Jones] Show less
Spotlight: Consistent in four races for Paddy Twomey; has contested two strong Curragh handicaps for this yard, an eyecatching sixth over 1m2f (good) before running well in the Irish Cesarewitch in which he appeared to stay the 2m1f (heavy); wouldn't be exposed just yet and has a Group 3 entry next month.
Spotlight: 10lb higher than for his C&D win in May but nearly followed up at Ballinrobe (1m5f, good to yielding) and was then only 2l away in a big field back here over 1m5f (behind Immutable); doesn't appear to want extremes of ground; solid chance.
Spotlight: An improving 3yo who followed up his maiden win (1m2f, good) with a narrow victory on handicap debut at Listowel (1m4f, yielding) where he was backed into favouritism; he was well placed that day given how the race panned out, but could cope with this 6lb higher mark.
Spotlight: Closely matched with some of today's rivals on recent efforts, and ran his usual honest race when third of 17 last week at Naas (2m); that trip appeared to stretch him, and before then over 1m4f he was a closing third behind Handani; Reese Holohan rides again.
Spotlight: Gelded after his first three races, all of which were positive, as was his return in a 1m3f Listed race at Killarney (soft) where he was keeping on at the finish; looks open to further progress and cheekpieces are added for handicap debut.
Spotlight: Twice beaten off this mark having gone up 14lb for bolting up over 1m6f at Fairyhouse in June, though was third of 18 at Galway and the race didn't go entirely to plan when beaten 4l behind Immutable here in the 1m5f Petingo; each-way claims.
Spotlight: Hard to fault in her last four races (1m2f/1m4f) and beat all bar a sharp improver last time at Doncaster (good; fine on yielding); mark is edging north but has to be considered.
Spotlight: Strong form in winning the Petingo Handicap over 1m5f here in September (good; some of these behind) and can probably put a line through his run in a heavy-ground Irish Cesarewitch, for which he was penalised; fifth in this last year; has a chance.
Spotlight: 0-10 on the Flat but runner-up five times; returns to this scene on the back of two hurdle wins, the latest a valuable handicap at Listowel; well drawn for one who likes to be up there and should give a good account.
Spotlight: Barely sighted when 50-1 for the Irish Cesarewitch but his close third to Immutable in the Petingo here (1m5f, good) brings him into the equation; effective in these aids which are now combined for the first time.
Spotlight: Tenth win on the Flat when digging deep on soft to heavy at Bellewstown (1m4f) and doesn't need slow ground; however, she's in a lot deeper here with a 5lb rise to deal with.
Spotlight: Won easily at Down Royal (1m5f, good) and nicely on top last week at Roscommon (1m4f, yielding to soft) when defying a 9lb rise; now has the same hike to deal with in what is a stronger race; however, he is riding on the crest of a wave.
Spotlight: A 3yo who appears to be improving, having finished second to a progressive rival before running out a ready winner at Roscommon (1m2f, yielding to soft); looks on a competitive mark for this handicap debut; not drawn well but considered.
Spotlight: 1m2f maiden winner but has come up short in three handicaps (1m2f-1m5f) and this looks tougher again.
Spotlight: Yet another good run at Naas when second there last week (1m2f, soft); fourth in this 12 months ago; has form claims but would prefer slower ground; 1lb out of the weights.
Spotlight: Reserve; 1-25 over hurdles and runner-up on her recent chase debut; wouldn't be the obvious answer to a race of this nature; 3lb wrong.
Spotlight: A ten-race maiden but he's consistent and finished runner-up in both his handicaps (1m AW); latest third of 18 in a 1m2f Curragh maiden was no backward step; gives the impression that he'll stay this far.
